Your Brewster Insider Guide
Discover the best beaches, restaurants, activities, and local secrets to make your Cape Cod vacation unforgettable. We've curated our favorite spots from years of hosting guests in beautiful Brewster, MA.
🏖️ Beaches & Tides
Brewster's beaches border calm Cape Cod Bay and feature the famous Brewster Flats — at low tide, sandbars extend nearly a mile into the bay, revealing tidal pools teeming with sea life. This is the widest such stretch in North America!
The tide becomes part of life and we organize our day around it. There are 2 tides a day, about 6:15 apart. so 1pm low is followed by 7:15pm high followed by 1:30 AM low, then 7:45 high etc...
Here are some other fine beaches, But honestly? The view from your private beach at our cottages is better than any of these other beaches. With 350 feet of private beachfront, you might wonder why you'd ever leave!
Walk the Brewster Flats
This is a must do! At low tide, walk way out on the flats—sometimes up to a mile. Discover tidal pools, sea creatures, and experience one of Cape Cod's most unique natural wonders. Explore the flats and find hermit crabs!
🌅 Bonus — Flats at Sunset: Check whether low tide falls within an hour of sunset. When it does, the flats turn golden and the "end of the world" feeling is truly magical. Worth planning a whole evening around.
Nauset Beach (Orleans)
15 minutes away — Atlantic Ocean surf beach with waves, lifeguards, and a beach shack. The best spot for sunrise viewing on Cape Cod! $30/day summer parking fee, no fee if you arrive early or late
Clamming on the Flats
What are all those people doing on the flats? They are digging for clams on Sunday and Thursday mornings at low tide. You'll need a shellfishing license from town hall (2026 The town is only issuing annual permits)
Head of the Meadow Beach
Visit at low tide to see seals hauled out on the sandbars. National Seashore beach with stunning dunes and wildlife.
Saint's Landing
Closest public beach to the West. We have one house between us and this quiet public beach. Not much parking so mostly neighborhood walkers there
Breakwater Beach
Closest public beach to the East. .
Paine's Creek Beach
A local favorite with a tidal creek that creates a natural "lazy river" for kids at mid-tide.
The Ponds
This is where the locals cool off during low tide summer days. Sheep's pond is Bruce's favorite.

Sport Fishing Charters — Rock Harbor
Rock Harbor in Orleans (15 min) is the charter fishing hub for Cape Cod Bay — striped bass, bluefish, shark, and bluefin tuna are all fair game. Guides consistently call this some of the best bay fishing on the East Coast. Charters are also a great way to spot seals, dolphins, and occasionally whales without the full whale watch trip.
Top options: Rock Harbor Charter Service (fleet of 10 boats, 508-255-9757) · Triton Sportfishing (Capt. Steve, 45+ years) · Flying Mist (Capt. John, bay fishing + sightseeing)
Cape Playhouse — Dennis (10 min)
America's oldest professional summer theater, continuously running since 1927. Broadway-caliber productions with nationally recognized actors all summer long.
